I looked out my window this morning and saw something I had never seen before up here in the foothills where we live. A long line of female deer were making their way in single file across the snow packed hillside. The deep crunchy snow is pretty hard on those spindly legs and it looks as though each is essentially breaking trail for those that follow. A good lesson for us all.
